Re: Now I started I cant stop
I spray and bake, as taught by a coach sprayer, not going to change that.
I listen to what people have to say, but just because Im young dosnt mean I know nothing, thats 20yrs with people alot old then me taking me through diffrent engines and what they own, best thing I learnt was how to scrape white metal bearing by hand when I was very young, age isnt a boundary
Cheers Steve

here you go again..no one is saying you know nothing..
what im saying is that the older generation have been around a lot longer than us,so will know more than us.. it stands to reason...
when you say you spray and bake it,what are you using to bake it on with????
as ive been looking for something to do the same, but i paint mine with enamel paint, not spray as the spray dust goes a long way..
like over windows/cars etc,i did try spraying once in the shed years ago and the spray dust covered everything....not good...
so now its paint and brush for me every time....

Re: Now I started I cant stop
Think you'll need to cross match it Mike so they can use English paint suppliers, someone might be able to match it from an engine part. I could be worth a trip to B&Q see if they have paint chips then get an English paint code.

I got the paint code from the scott owners club, then had it mixed, it should be RAF ground equipment blue.
wouldnt the witte be painted the colour of the drag saw suppliers?
Like with Cement mixers?

Re: Now I started I cant stop
I've got the American codes for most of my engines, but when i go and ask for the English equivalent they say they don't know it..
i guess im going to have to go to a large paint supplier or a supplier that mixes their own paint...
we have a company down here called brown brothers that do just that..will have to see what they say..
regards,mike.

Re: Now I started I cant stop
Got the chain got it one and had a go starting, partial success timing isn't right as kicking back like a mule, so adjusted a bit still not great, plus the handle is a bit deadly keep comes off and catches me in the ribs!
Will have another go in a bit.
Bit of a bling chain buts its all I could get

Re: Now I started I cant stop
Since im on night I set on drafting out a info sheet, This is what I got so far:
Make: Scott Motor Cycle Company.
Model: SE
Serial Number: 25
Year: 1930
HP: 1hp at 500rpm - 5 ½hp at 2000rpm.
Price New: £23
Made in: Shipley, Yorkshire
History:
These engines were produced in small numbers from 1930, most being sold to fill War Office contracts for The Royal Navy or Royal Air Force.
Purchased from an Expat in France, this engine has undergone restoration to present condition by its current owner.
Owned by: Stephen Williams, Helston, Cornwall.
Can anyone think of anything to add, take out etc? It will have a nice Scott Logo on the top and it will be paired up with some of the sales brocher info, If I can get it printed and laminated in A3!

Re: Now I started I cant stop
All I can think of is fuel type ... petrol, 4 stroke, have you any idea what it might have been used for e.g. genny for light or pump on a fuel bowser. Apart from that it sounds good, I like the price being added altho if you'd put £22 11 shillings and sixpence as that always starts the talk about old money but can't remember how it was wrote out now, maybe if you google old money that might show you.

Re: Now I started I cant stop
Yea was thinking about the fuel, its a petrol 2 stroke, but it self mixes in the crankcase, there is separate fuel and oil tanks.

Re: Now I started I cant stop
I thought you'd said it was a two stroke but couldn't remember, but worth adding to the sheet about it self mixing.

She's a bit of a cross between a WX11 and a Petter M, I havnt put it on the sheet, but am having the sales info printed off, which contains a nice bit of information, bore, stroke, power curves etc

Re: Now I started I cant stop
Thanks for posting Steve very interesting. Big price difference from the deisel to petrol model but still not many diesel saved, although most farmers still used TVO but you think it would be cheaper to run other applications. Also that's some size fuel tank on the rad. model, it must have used a bit to turn that generator as that's not small.
