how do i stop it?!!

Hi all. What is the correct method of stopping my Lister D? at the moment I either just turn off fuel until it stops or I push the air valve down till it stops!

I just turn the fuel tap off,wait a moment or 2 then turn the mixture screw ( not the air valve) to the off position.That works for me.
There are some useful videos on youtube about this and other Lister D bits and pieces.Hope that helps.

I was told that if you can't stop it via the mixture needle you pull the air valve up. I don't this it really makes a difference.
If the mixture needle has been painted (like mine) you may not see the off position marked. just turn it clockwise.

CHEERS ALL! it stopped itself today after 2hrs running with loss of spark. mag and lead ok, it just seems the plug gave up. champion d16 off ebay 2 weeks ago!! don't think its a genuine one

may i recommend the Lodge CV as a replacement spark plug, you can get them off of ebay, i got mine for £18 their new old WW2 stock. pricey i know but they can be fully disassembled for de coking. they look great as well.
