Take it all in good faith , cant be boring too much can we
I don't mind at all. I just forgot to put the on the end of that last post. It always used to be me that lowered the tone, maybe that's one of the reasons I don't go out much any more.
I never fail to lower the tone, do I matt?

The thing about getting to be or being an old guy (.....depends who is in the chair) is the manner on how life has changed your views through living it or enduring it.
Me...I find I have a lot more patience for things that I had previously no patience for.
Who was it that said "Youth is wasted on the young" ? That statement probably hides a shoveful of jealousy from the obvously old guy that uttered it.

Billy I understand where your coming from, as you get older we gain a lot more sense and understanding only thing is even though I'm in my 50's I still think I can do the same as I did 30+ years ago and I think alot of older gents are the same

Re: A Wolseley at last!!!!
Well, took her out for a days running yesterday, she got a fair amount of attention which surprised me, lots of compliments apart from the odd "why did you paint the straps red?" lol, it seemed like a good idea at the time, but when I put it together I was unsure, have been considering going over them in green, for my own satisfaction only
She ran well all day, and only got shirty when she was running out of fuel. Have managed to back her down a little on the governor arm but not much, I want to get her slower still so I may look at the throttle butterfly next. No pics or vids though this time (sorry stu ).

Glad to hear it ran well for you Andy, I thought the same about the tank straps but didn't want to upset you.
You have the nerve to say you didn't get any pics or a vid after we allowed you to put your engine up as the header pic, make the most of it
Stu.

Yes, I was just thinking the same thing. Feel a bit sorry for Andy with this thread, several times it's gone off track, & I'm as guilty as the rest.
Glad to see it's all done & running sweetly.

Re: A Wolseley at last!!!!
This forum has always gone off topic but strangly it comes back round again but if anyone doesn't like there threads to run off topic just have a word with one of the admin and we can delete the offending posts.
We do have a policy that does say to keep technical engine posts on topic so by rights once it goes off topic the other posts should be deleted but if it's not doing any halm and any questions have been resolved they should be ok.
Stu.

Re: A Wolseley at last!!!!
Although pretty well finished, I am still tinkering with this one.
Today I pulled her off the van as she was still in there since new years eve, the fuel tap was leaking so I pulled her apart, as suspected the internal seals were buggered, didn't have any rubber so made a new pair out of cork, all good, no leaks
I then set about sorting the idle speed, having already looked at the governor arm, I moved up to the speed adjuster knob and shaft. Once removed I had a look at the screw end, the stop hole for the split pin on the end was around 1/4" from the end, so I drilled a new hole, about 1/8" from the end at 90deg from the other, this hole half as big as the other so a smaller split pin could be fitted (allowing more adjustment). The resulting increase meant I could now back off the nob by another 4-5 turns relaxing the spring more. I set it to where it was before I started, and fired her up, then slowly used the extra adjustment I have achieved.
Here is the result:
before... after...
it has to be remembered though that this engine was originally sold to run at 900 rpm, hence why I have had to do what I did to bring it down to a more settled laid back pace for the rally field

Hmm, dunno about those red tank straps!
Only joking,
looks nice & runs very sweet. It's a sensible modification to make, as it's not like you can't run it at 900 again if you wanted to.

Tank straps are now green though
edit:
Better
I know the transfer is not straight, but neither is the tank, when I line it all up it should then be level.

Oh!
I really liked the red tank straps!
So Andy, what's your plans with this one then? Anything lined up to run off it? Will you be showing it this season?
