A Wolseley at last!!!!
Been out tonight and picked up a WD8
Pics tomorrow, it all came about through some friends of my fathers who I met up with on Sunday at the brickworks. On the face of it she has a load of surface rust as the paint was removed by the previous owner (before the person I got it from), the piston is seized in the bore (no biggy), mag has a spark but plastic cover is broken, a valve is stuck and a new zorst be required. Watch this space................and lets hope I don't get too many call outs this week so I have more play time .

Re: A Wolseley at last!!!!
Bit special this to be honest, my Granddad had a WD2, it is still in the family as my brother has it, but its sat under cover at my parents in running order. Hopefully it will be back on the rally field next season. This is the whole reason I wanted a Wolseley, ok his was a wd2 and this is a wd8, but they look pretty much the same, also this one is a 2 1/4 hp @ 900 rpm which I am lead to believe isn't that common. A little research puts her at around 1956-7.
Will get it out in the morning for a minor photo shoot

Unloaded, tank off, head off, piston free'd, valve free'd (crap cleaned from seat, holds parafin for a min or so, just wants lapping in), bore honed, time for lunch

Hey, if you want a race, I'll give you a race!
Cracking work, hope she's running soon.
BTW, can anyone tell me the difference(s) between a WD2 & a WD8???

Larger crankshaft for one thing, WD2 has 11/4" Diameter and the WD8 has 11/2".

Re: A Wolseley at last!!!!
Had to go and do some work this afternoon, but had another hour or so on her, mag is back on and timed up (with any luck) head is back on to check compression, zorst valve is letting by (sucks and blows) so will need to pull the head off again for a bit more lapping . here's the pic's from this morning:
Lets take a look, "Through the mag hole!"
In the 'opper
Stuck piston and zorst valve, with a little paraffin and my friend Mr Tappy (Mr Boom Boom stayed at home),
and there she blow!

Well what a poor excuse, there's 24 hours in a day I'm sure he could have spared a couple to work on something so important.

Had several call outs this week, didn't get back in until half ten last night, may get on it Saturday though, rest assured when I do it will be hit in the usual style, if fate be willing and all goes to plan I'll have it running tomorrow

Yes have to keep the wolf from the door by working even though I'm sure you'd rather be in your shed all day.
Good luck and fingers crossed you have it up and running today.

Don't have a shed Stu, bricks and mortar The garage is my workshop, my den and my peace haven (in fact I think I shall put that in my signature).stationary stu wrote:Yes have to keep the wolf from the door by working even though I'm sure you'd rather be in your shed all day.

Been a crap week for engines, plenty of work and both kids have been ill, Alan got a nasty cold that made even him sit still on the sofa for 2 days, then Jessica our ten month old got it, no sleep for 3 days isn't great lol.
However! Managed an hour out there this afternoon and have regained compression to a reasonable level, so 1 out of 3 isn't bad, just ignition and fuel to sort May whip the mag of again later if a chance arises and have a look at that impulse coupling
