Same mag as the other one difference being the mag on the second engine doesn't have the gear attached and has a fibre disc between the couplings, the mag has a similar drive to the one inside the housing in your last photo. You can swap mags, just take the housing off and the mag should fit.

Nope, that back plate stays on, if you remove the housing off the other engine it should fit straight on.
Are you going to Henham? I will me there with a small Petter M and grey water pump, if you find me say hello.

There is no housing on the other engine, once this was off all that was left was the back plate of the timing gears (I think - will try to get a photo this evening!)

Yes, hope to get to Henham on Saturday, will look out for you. I'll be the tall one (6ft4)

Re: Petter A1 by first time restorer
Good weekend for me, I found a fuel tank bracket for a few pounds at Henham but didn't manage to meet Villiers
Back at home I managed to remove the belt pulley and also the key for the flywheel
I'm not sure how to pull the flywheel off though, can I use those holes in the flywheel face? If I grind the opposite corners off the puller "hooks" will I destroy their hardness and render them useless (they will not currently fit through)? As ever, all thoughts greatly appreciated.

Don't bother with a puller. You have done the hard part. Wedge a piece of wood between the crankcase and crankshaft/conrod, avoiding damaging the oil dipper, and rock the flywheel backwards and forwards hitting the wood. Keep doing that until the flywheel eventually moves on the shaft, plenty of lube and it should then slide off. Even spinning the engine over using the handle might work as well because momentum will probably move the flywheel.

As above, I turned the engine over with the handle and the flywheel started to spin on the shaft, then just slid it off.
