Ive acquired a Petter PU2 Serial No F1323 & pump set up (in bits) ive tried to get a coulour match on the original paint from the engine block and when they scanned it and mixed it instead of a dark green it came out a messy battle ship grey. is there a correct green for this engine and if so where can i order it?
Also ive a stripped pump for the same set up, i was told by the previous owner it was a "Lee howl" pump, but to me it looke like a No1 climax pump, can anyone give me info on what order the springs go back in ??
Any info on this set up would be greatly appreciated Smile

If yes then it is a Climax No1 pump and PU2. Correct colour as far as I know is Mid Brunswick Green and Black base, or this one was when found.

What springs are you wanting info on? Valve springs in the pump?

Yep identical to the one pictured right down to the square tank, differences are
1, air intake on carb
2, mine has no plaque on the base .....
the pump is identical other than ive no inletor outlet pipework. the only id on the pump is "No 1" on the top "air tank"??
yes ive a fiull set of the springs for the valves and really have no idea as they are shaped as to how they go in??
The previous owner stripped it all 15 years ago and its been like it ever since.
can anyone give me a rough date for it? as i know the "F" serial numbers started at F1000 so i figure its quite early being F1323

Cool, that makes 3 sets I know of.

The brass plate on the base is an installers plate, that just has the name and address of the company that installed it in the first place, that set in the photo is a 1943 set and belongs to my brother.

As for the springs, big rubber washer, then thin brass washer, spring then there might be a small brass washer, that's the order they go in, with a brass bolt holding it all in place. give the threads some copperslip, helps to undo them next time.

2, the cover for the small gear on the pump has a break through the hole where it bolts on, would anyone here have one kicking about for sale or will i have to find someone that can repair cast?
3, ive no drive belt, is there a good supplier out there?
4, Any ideas of anyone on this forum that will have some iron wheels for sale so i can make up a trolly for it?
5, one of the inlet studs on block needs replacing, how do i measure whitworth to get the correct size?? any ideas?

Nice unit that you have got by the sound of it ...

here a few websites for fuel pipe fittings and pipe ...

http://www.completeautomobilist.com/categories/complete-automobilist-fuel-system-taps-pipe-and-fittings

http://www.holden.co.uk/displayproducts.asp?sg=2&pgCode=017&sgName=Hardware&pgName=Fuel+Systems&agCode=0121&agName=Fuel+Pipe+%26+Fittings&pageno=2

and for belting

you can either ebay it like i did

Or go onto - http://www.stationaryengineparts.com/home.php

remember you get 4 and 5 ply belt and go up from 1 inch and go up in 1/2" , you will need to order a alligator type joiner too , any trouble feel free to ask.

Hi Motormouse - I found this company website invauable - its a USA company who give many pdfs and printable/ downloadable instructions on how to read BSW bolt sizes...

http://www.britishfasteners.com

on ebay you can find a useful gadget for measuring BSW threads - a bit like a gap adjusting tool but serrated edges to measure threads - use "Metric & Whitworth Thread/Screw Pitch Gauge TE121" to search (nowt to do with me but useful!

best
