Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Stainless steel tank arrived today for the H2 pump, so spent 5 hours cleaning up the welds and then polishing it up.
I love drilling holes in stainless steel (not)!!!
Ah welll its all done now anyway!!!
Got in from the garage at 1am this morning.
Transfering the Lister A onto new base tonight, then just a case of putting the fuel tank on, putting the fuel pump back on and making new fuel pipes, then it should be finished!!
Just gonna enjoy rallying this engine and pump now Stu, but I do have to put my other Lister D reverse drive on a base with domestic pump. (similiar to my other one).
Then at some point next year, I still have my 1936 petter A to start work on. Gonna have this one set up with a bench grinder.
So still some bits to do, but gonna take the summer off from the garage after this week.
Regards
Mart.

Cracking job Mart, and I think you've earned a rest, dunno about all the summer just have to wait and see how quick you get bored
Was the stainless steel difficult to weld and did you use gas or electric to weld it?

A mate of mine welded it up for me at work. I bought 316 marine stainless in 3mm thick.
It was ok to weld, but I had the hard work of cleaning up elds and cutting all the holes!!! really hard material 316 seems to be.

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Morning,
Well the move of the engine onto the new trolley went well last night. Thank heavens my neighbour had a hydrolic engine lifter!!! Was hard work even with that to get it all lined up as best possible.
Some pictures below for you.
Just the fual tank assembly and a few bits and bobs to do now and we should be there. Yipppeeeeeeeeeee!
Cheers

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Mart looking great! are you fitting anything else on the trolley? I know you've built a seperate trolley for the pump so I was just wondering if you had anything else in mind.

Only the fuel tank obviously Stu,
No this one is gonna work the H2 pump via a flat belt.
Hopefully it should be ok.

Martin.

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Well Mike, the next job after this is finished is to put my reverse drive Lister D on a base and rig it up with another domestic pump. Both items are finished so just the trolley to complete. Then after that I have a 1936 Petter A in my dads garage to complete, but gonna have a few weeks off from the garage first and may even do a bit more fishing to chill out.

Mart.

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Some of you may be asking why I offset the brass straps on the wooden feet, well if I didnt I would have had the strap on the outlet of the tank. had no choice unfortunately but to offset them onto the dge.

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
Right then, last of the fuel pipes are on and she will be ready for cranking up as soon as I get home from work tomorrow.
Oiled up all bearing inside crank case and lubricated everyting as per lister A book.
Shame it just got to late to crank her over tonight.
Just hope me fuel pipes are ok and no leaks.
These are the final pics now before I take the finished job ones at the rally on saturday.
regards
Mart.

Re: WORK HAS STARTED ON MY 1931 LISTER A
I'm sure it will all be fine, your work is always first class so can see you having any problems. I was hoping mine would be finished for the weekend but poor weather has stopped me, also can't find some of the carb. parts so need to hunt them out
