Barr & Stroud sleeve valve engine
There isn't many Circa 1920 generator sets you can pick up and walk way with, this little Barr and Stroud is one of the few.
The set was made by Barr & Stroud, who where making use of their optics machinery shop post WW1 to produce the Burt-McCollum design sleeve valve engine on licence from Wallace circa 1918, who made the Glasglow sleeve valve stationary engine.
The engine was used for a lifeboat to from a spark gap Marconi radio set. .The 40cc single sleeve valve was designed to run at its rater 4000rpm from 20 minutes followed by 40 minutes listing on the receiver. The alternator produced 100v, 250W @ 800Hz
