Hello
Newbie here and I’m hoping someone might be able to help.
I have a very well rusted Lister Junior. It’s a long story but I’ve known about it for around 50 years but the owner wouldn’t sell it. I eventually managed to buy it and am now trying to restore it.
It’s very rusted but I’m slowly getting it apart. However I'm having a major problem with removing the governor sleeve. I believe that it should just slide off the shaft but it is well and truly stuck. I’ve tried heat, penetrating fluid for a couple of months and have even made a special puller to try and ease it off. Nothing has succeeded so far.
Has anyone got any suggestions or am I simply missing a trick?

Here are 2 pictures of the sleeve. The name comes from the Lister parts manual

I've got two A types and a B type that use the same part, I restored one from scratch and having looked at your picture I think its just stuck, you have the two weights in the flywheel running in the slot we can see and the other slot has a brass shoe with the governor arm attached, the brass shoe doesn't rotate but is lubricated by the tube in the bottom of the picture. The collar rotates with the crank shaft but has to slide along it, but is stopped from rotating around the crank shaft by a pin which if you look at the base of the groove you can see a feint circle which I think is the pin, If you can wait I will take a look at one of mine on Wednesday to confirm my thoughts.

Pete,
I've just had a look at one of my A's and I'm correct in my thoughts and assuming you have removed the brass governor shoe it should slide off the crank shaft, I can only assume its rusted stuck.

Can you get the crank shaft out with that on, its been a long time since I stripped my A type, I think the crank only comes put from one side, if you can get the side covers off and get it out you will have the best chance of removing it, get it red hot and it will become unstuck.

Thanks for the replies. I figured that it was simply stuck but wanted to check I wasn’t missing anything.
I guess I’ll just have to keep going at it. I don’t think the crank will come out without getting it off first.
