which RPM Villiers Mk15?
Dear forum members,
To determine the right pulleys for my Villiers Mk15 motor I want to check the RPM of my Villiers MK15
In the technical data I could find a value of 2850RPM. Guess this is meant with full throttle
I don't want to run it continiously on this high RPM.
Seems that the governor is keeping the RPM on a lower level but I'don't know an RPM value
I don't have an additional gearbox. So RPM motor pulley = RPM cranckshaft
Has someone checked the RPM of a MK 15 by measuring?
Please let me know your thoghts.
Best regards,
Steef

Re: which RPM Villiers Mk15?
Hi Steef.
1955 Manual states 1.95 BHP @ 2,800 rpm
1956 Manual states 2.50 BHP @ 3,600 rpm
so some variation.
You can find hand held tachometers fairly cheaply on ebay.

Spring for governor Mk12 suitable for Mk15?
Dear forum members,
Still waiting for the RPM handheld.
On the site of L & S Engineers I've seen different types of springs for the Mk10 / MK12 / C12 governor
It seems possible to influence the final RPM by changing the spring type of the governor.
For example:
http://www.lsengineers.co.uk/villiers-mk10-12-c12-governor-spring-up-to-1500-rpm.html
I don't see these springs on the site of Villiers parts.
Assuming these springs have the same effect on the MK15 as the design of the governor mechanism looks similar to the MK12.
Is this correct? Who can confirm?
Best regards,
Steef Pronk

Like - minded company !
Find your local agricultural machinery dealership , the repair shops in most of these places have a device called a shaft end contact tachometer , it looks like a big stopwatch with a rubber cone ended probe sticking out , it,s not a probe , it,s a very finely machined shaft , take your engine in , & run it , they will be able to measure the sahaft end R.P.M. with that tool , set your governor up accordingly . Job done . ( I,m in central england , & I,m unable to travel that far so do it locally . )
