Key way connection between flywheel and camshaft Villiers Mk15 possible?
Dear forum members,
As most of the Villiers engines have no key way in the cranck shaft the timing of the ignition is not so easy.
Therefore I'm thinking to make a key way connection between flywheel and cranckshaft.
Don't want to ruin a good flywheel / cranckshaft; seems these are not easy to get.
Has someone already tried to make a key way connection for Villiers engines?
Please let me know your thoughts.
Best regards,

if it was a good idea i think villiers would of done it, over the 80 yrs they used and suplied to other engine manufactures over the years, from there motor bike industrial and garden machine engines, of two and four strokes none never had them even when they changed over to wico mags towards the end of production in the uk and then 30 yrs later when villiers austraila final ended making engines in 2009
as it was the only way to advance and retard the timing for the spark
hope this helps

Forget it mate , just get your engine running , & try to fix this up ; arrange a moving coil voltmeter in parallel wiring fashion between your ignition coil,s primary winding & the points / condenser , the purpose here is to find out just what voltage the primary system runs at , then fix up a d.c. supply of power at the same voltage , reset the mechanical timing to perfect datum on the engine , then use this determined power source from the coil primary winding wire connection across the points to earth , set the points so that with the setting rig live you only just stop the power flow with the points gap . A very fine touch will be needed , with inexhaustible patience because it will move every time you tighten the points baseplate screw , but although I haven,t done this here yet , it should provide very fine race timing approaching bike racing levels . Basically this is finding your engine,s sweet spot . Obviously your points & condenser need to be 1st class , with polished surfaces on the points .
