JAP dating
Hi all,
Can anyone help me out with some pics of jap engines?
I would like:-
a pic of the engine
and the position of where to find the engine number.
let me know if you can help me out and i will PM me you my email address to send them to.
Thanks for your time and hope to get diffrent types and age of JAP engine for the purpose of dating.

Not quite sure I follow this, however, if you google 'JAP Engine Dating', the first result is:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
and the second...
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Both contain the same information, which has been published in many books etc.
In the cases I've seen, the engine type/date letter/number are stamped in a prominant position on the crankcase.
Often some confusion is caused when someones JAP 2A (for example) is date letter P (again, for example). This would be either 1920 or 1940. Reference to the A-Z shows the 2A wasn't introduced in 1920 - so it must be 1940.
