4VXA HELP NEEDED
Hello
Hope you don’t mind me posting
I live in Shropshire and i am having a few problems with injectors in my Ruston Hornsby 4 VXA
It’s suffering from uneven firing and diesel knocks
We don’t know the set pressures for the injectors the actual pressure is not in any of the books etc that mr Ray Hooley let me have so we have set the pressure at 90lb per sq inch now thinking the pressure should maybe be less wondering if you could maybe shed any light on the calculated pressure for the injectors hopefully we can get it finished and ready for the rally this summer
Best regards
Any help or any contacts would be appreciated

Re: 4VXA HELP NEEDED
Welcome,
90 psi sounds way too low; that's lower than the cylinder pressure would be at the end of the compression stroke.
90 ats. (1325 lbs per square inch) would be more likely.
If you are getting excessive diesel knock: check that there is good atomization from the injector and that it is not 'hosing'. Do not allow the spray to come into contact with you skin.
