Vire 6 Marine engine
Some pictures of my Vire 6 two stroke water cooled marine engine. I have one in my sailing boat (Galion 22), a spare and this one. All are repainted and work. The magneto was missing on this engine and a Kettering ignition system fitted. They date from 1969 and 1970.

Hi David (?)
https://ukengineforum.forumotion.com/t2492-step-by-step-photo-upload
Just to clarify, for yourself and other new members, when you first upload pictures to servimg.com it will automatically create an account on their server with the same user name and password that you use on this forum. You cannot open a new account directly on their server, but once the account has been created you can log in directly at https://servimg.com/. I'd advise doing so to create different Categories to sort your images. This image hosting service is only for the use of forum members and is not accessible to joe public.
You can also access the tutorial, which has changed somewhat since the original post, directly from
https://help.forumotion.com/t10583-servimg-servimg-pro
So you get three dialogues:
1) Login in
2) Upload pictures to server - select files and send - green progress bar whilst they upload
3) Insert url into your post - Insert all.
You can also manually copy the url and insert using the Insert Image button.
It's a bit tricky at first but persevere and you will get there.

Re: Vire 6 Marine engine
I have always had an interest in marine engines, that's not a make I have come across before, it looks pretty compact, what HP is it?
I only have the one inboard motor, it's an ANZANI dingy motor, probably the only one.

Very nice. What's the V twin in the background?

Re: Vire 6 Marine engine
The Vire 6 was made by Valmet, a Finnish company, producing about 6bhp @ 2,500 rpm from about 250cc.
The V twin is a Pembleton three wheeler. See the website www.thepembleton.org.uk for more info. I finished building it about six years ago. It needs a good polish!

Nice looking unusual engine, should go down well if you decide to show it.

Re: Vire 6 Marine engine
This engine lives in Leeds. Where and when would there be a suitable show/display?
The engine is compact but needs a 12 volt battery, an external fuel tank and cold water tank which makes a running installation a bit cluttered. The exhaust is water cooled and because it's a two stroke (20:1::petrol:oil) a bit messy.
I have fitted a non-marine silencer after the original aluminium expansion box. It's reasonably quiet but big and ugly! I post a picture of it on a trolley in the next few days.

Check out dates in Rally Section. Ackworth is not too far away and Newby Hall is a great meet. Barring accidents I will attend at least these three and, hopefully, some more.
To all members - please feel free to add more rallies that you know of.

As above, check out the Rally section or have look through events calenders such as these:
https://www.steamheritage.co.uk/steam-rallies-and-events
http://www.tractiontime.co.uk/modules/extcal/view_year.php
If you find one you like, first thing to do is contact the engine steward or fill in an online form.
Unless you already know, you will need insurance to show your engine in public, it's available for a few pounds from various places.
