What make / model engine is this?
Dear members,
In the museum we received a running flat twin stationary engine.
For future preservation i want to know more about this engine
i looked on the internet but only found a picture were the same question was asked.
this is what we know sofar
in the mid 1980 this engine was bought at the Britisch army surplus in Germany.
The reason for the army to sell was that al stationary gasoline engines were replaced bij stationary diesel engines.
The owner painted the engine yellow so it could be used as a generator on a construction yard.
The Original color of the engine was light gray.
The engine was to big for the generator and was shelved and stored.
after 30 years storage the engine was donated to our museum.
Could you please help us identifying this former Britisch army engine?

Re: What make / model engine is this?
You have a Petter Universal engine type PU8.
Introduced sometime in the very late 1930's and produced until 1945.
All supplied to military contracts.
This is an 8hp petrol engine used for a variety of purposes from generators to pump sets on landing craft.
Petrol consumption is horrendous !!
Your engine seems pretty complete apart from the air ducting (cowling) to direct cooling air around the cylinders.

Thank you for your responce.
This info makes this engine very special for our museum.
Our museum was in 1944 a repairshed for the 82st and 101st american airborne and 30th britisch army core. A hospital was also staged on a hospital barge in the canal near the museum.
Those who fel for our liberity wil never be forgoten!
