Villiers 2-stroke
I was in the shed tonight and I found this engine that I'd forgot about. I bought it a while back along with another engine.
Not sure exactly what it is, all I know is its a Villiers 2-stroke from some sort of tool. It has "Villiers" cast into the front of the casing around the pull start.
Any ideas?
Also, any ideas what the machine is that its off? To me, it looks like it might be some sort of chainsaw, but thats a rather big engine for a chainsaw!

Re: Villiers 2-stroke
Hi,
I'm sure Kev will get there quicker than I, but the fact that the cooling duct seems to come off to the side of the fan rather than the front is unusual. It looks a bit spooky in your shed - any chance you could drag it into the daylight for a few more pictures.
[Edit} Dur, I think I may be a plonker and that I had one of these - see my post:

Hmm, just looking at that thread you linked, they look similar but I don't think they are the same. The casing looks a bit different.
I'll try and get some better pictures, but it is a really heavy lump that I can't move on my own and the person that helped me put it there doesn't get back till next week!

Ah ha! I think I have found it. I believe it is a Mk 25A. It is apparently from a two man chainsaw.
Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Villiers 2-stroke
That's a twin port off a chain saw, maybe Teles?

Ooo, that looks nice! Is that in your own collection?
If so, could you get a picture closer up of the mechanism on the engine side please?
It looks similar, certainly the engine!
Also, if I were to hypothetically restore the chainsaw, do you know where I could get the parts for the chainsaw bit?

Re: Villiers 2-stroke
Well, I think I have found out what it is. I believe it is a Danarm two-man chainsaw, either Mk1 or Mk1.
The sticker on the front that said Danarm kind of gave some of it away...
I've thread on another website that deals with chainsaws to see if they know which model it is.
There are some better pictures of it here if anyone is interested:

Looks like Villiers has scored a bullseye. Found a few videos on Youtube e.g.

I wouldn't want to be the bloke at the opposite to the engine with the chain coming towards me! I get dressed up like a medieval knight just to cut up a few logs for the stove.

Haha, yeah. Looks like scary stuff!
Again, its similar but the gearbox casing is slightly different. You can see the Teles casing closer in this video: [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Heres a picture of the Danarm chainsaw I think it is.

Re: Villiers 2-stroke
Looks like yours is a Mk 3, very nice!
That little plate on the front that is above the flywheel and is in front of the inlet manifold, is that detachable?
