first rally since 1988
hi all,
It was my first rally last sunday at the chiltern vintage vehicle rally in Bucks and it was my Lister's first rally since 1988! it ran my lister domestic water pump with my kaynes patent oil can, burmos paraffin blow lamp, 1932 shell petrol can and other old stuff. she sure did please the crowd! I never thought a lister d would get as much attention as she did especially in-between an all original ex-mod WD2 and lister CS with a seed crusher.
She ran well, though it was her first long run since a bore honing so it was still bedding in thus burning (at times) a lot of oil. it nearly stopped after 3 hours with the odd puff hear and there.
I've included some pictures:
I hope you've enjoyed looking the pictures,
Callum

yeah it was good, not many engines but it was a good view across the whole rally.
I had to go early morning auto-jumbling to find a vee-belt for my pump!

Good setup there Squire - great looking trolley as well and I am liking all the other period pieces you've stuck in the scene - a nice touch!
So would you say you have the rally bug now?
GDSF or 1000 engine rally next?
best

Re: first rally since 1988
I most certainly do have the rally bug!!!
I don't know if you saw, but a few months ago a started a thread about trolley building and pillow block bearing for the axles, this trolley is the product of those two treads. If i do say so my self i too think its a nice trolley.
firstly i have to get transport arranged!! I was taken to this rally by the previous owner of my engine and is WD2 on his trailer. i have been offered transport to local rallies but i don't think that offer quite stretches to GDSF !!!
I'm putting a video together about it at the mo, i'll put it on the forum when its finished.
thanks for the compliments

Re: first rally since 1988
I forgot to mention that the wd2 owner had to use my burmos blow lamp to solder the copper pipe together on the argosy pump which the crowd liked.
the wd2 is all original, me and the owner know it was brought by the MOD, but we reckon it was never used. even the spark plug and ht lead are original. the reason why we reckon it was never used is because there is absolutely no wear anywhere, there is no crack in the paint where the inspection plate door joins the block, we even reckon the trolley is original.
