Hi chaps.
That motor that I was asking about, whether or not it'd be suitable to use as a generator, has been put to good use on my Lister Domestic Pump project: I serviced the pump which was in good condition and is great except for the non original top cover plate. Here it all is. I'm just wondering whether or not I should paint the motor or keep it looking ratty: It'll be fun to have this running from my generator powered by the Lister B engine.

You can see here, on the back side of the motor there is a conical pulley unit with different diameter grooves. These will be handy in using this motor to drive other equipment:

Because of this brass plate I am assuming this pump is quiet old. Some of the later ones have a sliver/ black plate. Correct? Any ideas?

I have since painted the electric motor and am pleased with the results.
I also got some new wheels that are stronger and more industrial. They also match the black solid cast iron wheels on my Lister's trolley a bit better.:

looking good there, certainly be useful with all the floods about Very Happy
(joking aside, i hope no ones been affected)

Yes you are correct, the newer ones do have the pressed aluminium type spec plates. I'm not sure when they changed from brass though.
My pump has a brass spec plate. But i've only managed to test mine by turning a bike upside down and turning the pedals with my hand with the rear wheel braced against the pulley!  Very Happy
