Lister Domestic pump
hi all,
i have now got a lister domestic pump. it will be ran off of a lister d type. i have a few questions to ask about the operation and thing to look out for on a pump as its my first. Firstly, can you run the pump dry? some pumps i know you can't. how much of a load does it give a Lister d? and finally is SAE 30 oil okay for the crank case?
here is a picture:
thanks for any help

Re: Lister Domestic pump
Domestic will not give much load under normal running but if loaded up to there maximum capacity will make a 4hp engine work!

Thanks all,
its good to know that there is a good choice of spares available and that their still be made now! must be good.
Just a thought, could i run the drive belt off the flywheel to increase the gear ratio or should i only run the pump off the pulley?
thanks again,

Re: Lister Domestic pump
Run it from the pulley, the design speed of these pumps is only 500rpm.
Off the flywheel all you will do is bust the conrod.

Re: Lister Domestic pump
i'm now planning to use the pump to get water from a underground water tank that collects water from the roof. I will then pump the water into large butts behind the shed to water the garden with.
I think it will be nice to put the pump and Lister to good use; i just need to find a way to gain access into the water tank. this shouldn't be too hard as there is a plastic man hole type thing.
