Lister D main Bearing
Can I take the main bearing out of a Lister D without taking the piston out. also is there any thing I need to put timing marks on?

think so you have to take off the cam side cover under the mag. Where the cam followers are, remove flywheel, and the ring if bolts behind it, and will pull out, leaving piston and conrod in block.

Re: Lister D main Bearing
the whole engines stripped, only things left are the main bearing and piston/conrod so should be able to just take it out?

Undo the 5 nuts around the housing and pull it out.

The crank web will come out with the crank. Tip engine on the side if you fear conrod falling out.

this may help: http://www.stationaryengineforum.net/t6528-ed-s-lister-d-little-tlc
didn't take too long to do You only realy need the side cover above the oil filler off for re-allingnment, but as she is already in bits that won't matter
