AK Update!!!
Hi Boys and Girls!!
I went to the AK earlier and was really chuffed it started 3 rotations of the flywheel so that was brilliant!!
But i after 10 mins i was getting bubbling from bottom of the hopper but not often just random!
I wasnt really to bothered.......So anyway i topped the hopper nearly to the top and left it but when i looked again after a min i noticed a bit of mayonaise on tappets/Valves so i looked at the hopper more closely and noticed a old repair about 2 inches below the top of the hopper!!
All i need to remember is not to fill it to the top
But if i find another head then i will just replace it or shall i just try to repair it with JB weld?
Im really fond of this AK
What shall i do chaps?

try and find a new hopper adam, or easier idea,
convert to a tank cooled, may be easier, trying to find a new head may be difficult
possible spares

Hi Chris!!
I will most likely do that!
Im a little worried about the bubbles at the bottom as well. Paul Sterling said it could be a possibility its the valve bungs but its defitnatly coming from the bottom but only when running
I do love this engine!
Hi Ryan!!
I forgot about that but id see how much it goes for?
Thanks both
Adam

Exactly what i said Chris.
its a common fault on most A/B types immediately after restoration, but easily cured.
like i say Adam, with that crack, its important that you stop further propagation, otherwise a good heat cycle will open it up, you must drill the ends of the crack to stop it spreading, then grind and fill.
