Bamford 1 3/4 hp open crank engine
Hello,
I am trying to help my father identify an engine he has, its a Bamford 1 3/4 hp open crank with the following info:
Main bearing cap 7358, BHP 1 3/4 hp, rpm 450, eng no 6267, con rod 6838, water jacket 7354, crank W1 1M. If any one can help with any history i.e date, number produced, value etc it would be much appreciated.

post a few pics up for value as a bits in pieces engine isnt worth as much as a fully compleate fully run and restored engine..

Bamford 1 3/4 hp engine
Hello,
The engine is complete but un-restored and hasn't run for 38 years. Buts it's been kept dry and under cover. From what I am learning this is a rare engine from early 1920's with not many being produced as the history doesn't even bother referring to it as hp rating.

Sam I take it you've done all the internet searches to see what info/pics that brings up, you'd be suprised how much info is about it's just a case of finding it.

I always thought the 2hp version was the smallest open crank they made. Maybe your engine is an early petrol paraffin version of the 2hp (merely speculation)? Some pics would help identification.
