Re: BAMFORD 4HP OPEN CRANK
Hi Eamonn, if you send them an email with the serial no they will tell you who it was supplied to and year, send them a list of parts you might need and see as they have parts that they do not advertise, they are not the quickest in getting back to you but they are very informative as I found with my SV3 and of course look on the usual selling sites you never know. Regards Richard

Re: BAMFORD 4HP OPEN CRANK
Thanks a lot Richard,I'll email them and see what they have.Hopefully they will have a few parts that i need.I have an idea of the years they were made but unfortunately,i have no engine numbers because the plate which is situated on top of the water hopper with the model number was gone.Would i still be able to get it dated by parts numbers? Regards,Eamonn

Re: BAMFORD 4HP OPEN CRANK
Hi, as the plate is missing I doubt if they would be able to help, on the later Bamfords the serial no was stamped on the face end of the crank shaft, I do not know if that would apply to yours but worth a look, they would also advise where else to look, maybe someone on here might know. You may need to gently sand any rust off the end in case its very faint. Regards

Hi Richard,I tried looking on the face end of the crankshaft but there were no numbers.I do have the patent number though. I don't know if they could do anything with it though.regards Eamonn

Re: BAMFORD 4HP OPEN CRANK
The exhaust valve is stuck solid.I have filled the area with diesel to try to loosen it but i haven't seen much change.I will have to figure out a way to free it without breaking the cast block. Also the sleeve that the valve slides through is broken off so it is going to be hard to get off.I was also wondering if the whole valve seat comes out because there is a large hollow nut component that threads on which you can see in the picture.

As you can see in the picture the carb is badly rusted so i'm not sure if i will have to get a new one.
