Lister D carb problems.
Now that the dry weather is here progress made to the Lister D engine all built up and timed thank god.
But fuel spewing out of carburettor float (alloy part) & seeping out of carb body with butterfly valve.
Parts are AMAL & D65.
Amal float is spewing fuel out and what i think i need is a overhaul kit as im not sure if the parts are correct or any missing (complete novice with these engines please bear with me).
D65 is the lettering on the carb body and again a kit for this then i can re build and hopefully get some fire in the old girl.
Parts where can i get the kits please?
This was a non running engine when i got it last year in bits with no compression so it's trial and error, at least there is a spark as it was trying with the odd puff of smoke.

Re: Lister D carb problems.
you might find that the needle in the float isnt seating, or the floats sicking.

Yes it maybe.
I noticed the needle has a clip on the rear and the needle moves up through the float, I suspect this should hold the float a little better.?

There should be a grove on the needle that a clip on the float sits in.

Yes found it steve thanks and made a new clip for it but the needle seems too long when clipped on so it's in the bin i think & looking for another.

Re: Lister D carb problems.
Try it without the floatchamber cap and see if it still floods, might be the needle sticking in the cap?

Re: Lister D carb problems.
I have had this problem a few times, and it is normally the float sticking in the chamber.
Normally happen when the engine has been sat over winter.
A couple of little taps on the side of the carb normally free's mine up and it then works all summer.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
