Well, all I can realy tell you about that pump is the fact I have one and they are a solid lump!
I have had mine for about 30 years and it always pumps fine with no priming problems at all. For a pump this size it doesn't pump a great deal of water as the gearing is so low in the gearbox on top.

I have now been given a sheet of clear perspex to replace the gear cover soo you can see the gears working when it is gooing.

Follow the link, my pump is on there somewhere being driven by my D type

hi rob.....well I'm guessing thats your name as it said on the photo.....

thanks for the link...
its great to see one all up and running....
I'm in the middle of taking it all apart,as the to main shaft bearings are shot to bits...
i think its were it been sat in the bottom of the well for so long its knackered them up...
it was full of what i can only think was soil, but it was like compost,it was a bugger to get out...
once Ive got it apart and fitted new bearings,it should be up and working.....
a friend of mine wants to know how much its worth..like i said its only worth what the person wants to pay for it...
he thought it was worth a lot of money.. lol! lol! lol! ...so i asked him why??
well he said thay must be very rare as Ive never seen one......he only goes to 2 shows a year as a spectator.......

as for the weight,my car knew it was in the boot when i brought it home thats for shore....
have you renewed the gland packing in your pump???
if so what size is it,as I'm guessing its bigger than the smaller ones....

thanks for your reply, and its nice to see someone else with one....

I haven't renewed anything on my pump apart from the oil and paint! As for being weighty.... When it first came home My farther was offered a Ruston 11/2 PB and a "small" pump. It was quite a long way from home so he elected to leave the trailer at home...Can you see where this is going??? When we got to the shed there was the Ruston and the Godwin still belted up to it. We only had a Mk2 Cortina and a box of tools.

Finished up with the engine and bottom half of the pump in the boot of the car and I had the top half on the back seat with me for the journey home. Quite scary when you are only 12!!!!!

it was a shock when i went to collect mine....

in the pictures it looked a normal size pump....

it wasn't till i got to the fellas farm and he said here is the pump mike....

well i proper s..t my self.. lol! lol! lol! ..thats it i said????

yes that the one, well I'm miles from home and on my own,so him and his 2 mates lifted it in to the boot of the car,

that was the easy bit, when i got home i had to wait for my 2 boys to come round and get it out of the boot...

on opening the boot, thay both said i was of my head, and what are you going to do with that.. lol! lol! lol!

well i just laughed and said get it out of the boot,

well when it was out and sat on a spare trolly next to the smaller Godwin pump i then realised the size of it..

thay still think im mad.. lol! lol! lol! and i shouldn't be aloud out on my own.. lol! lol! lol!

not sure what engine I'm going to run it off of yet, mite be my sons LISTER DK,if i cant sort him the generator that he want me to get...

should look rather nice once its all done......but it all takes time....and I'm in no rush....

Hi..sorry don't know your surname.....

well the pump is coming along slowly, got 2 new bearings for the pulley housing..
now all i need to do is to un cease the main body of the pump..(all the cogs that are behind the round cover plate)...
once that's done then i will strip all the paint off and start the to prime and repaint.....

then it will be time to make a nice trolley and then sell it i guess as i think its going to be a bit large for me with my back problem...
its been hard work doing this one as its to hard to move it about...lot easier to do the small ones...

got a flat belt pulley for it now as the v belt pulley is cracked..think it will weld up OK though...

had to take it to a fella Ive known for years...

he has a hydraulic puller....

took him ages to get it off....

we are talking days of leaving the puller on it with the pressure on all the time.....

hes a cracking fella, and he didn't charge me for doing it...

mind you i do have to do him a lot of favors....

so it all works out in the end.....

thanks for your comments......

Did you take the cross slide and the rods out of the top casting Mike? I want to do this on mine as I have a clear sheet to go over the gearbox so you can see it all working but am not sure how the rods/ slide come out.

I'm not sure if i could do it without breaking something....

its been in the ground since it was new....I'm not that brave....

good luck with yours.....

nice one rob....
mines getting there, but like i said due to my back problem,it all takes longer now...
im hoping to get it sorted soon....very similar to a Lister H1/H2 when you remove the brass covers, the valves and rubbers are the same...
did you know Godwin made a lot of the Lister pumps...read the Lister book...
perhaps why thay are so very similar on the inside...
