Re: Coventry Climax Number 2 pump
I've tried to google it and all I can find is the large pumps used by the fire service. I'll keep looking but it's not looking to good.

Re: Coventry Climax Number 2 pump
Has far as I now there are no books or anything about these pumps.
They were badged as Amanco as well, they are very simple to restore.
Take close up photos so you can always look at them when putting back together.
If you have problems get drop of to me and I will restore it for you I do not charge for my time
Thats the best part I dont do Shows my Engines are here if any one wants to take them out

Ryan, I do not do shows becouse my daughter is Disabled and needs looking after 24/7.
We have a live in carer , she 24 now and bigger than my wife, she finished collage 3 years ago so thats when I sold up the wagans and retiered . So I can only have about 3 hours away at a time.
We all have a great time if you new Lucy she cracks you up, we brought lucy up the same as my
other daughter Emma.
We get drunk and she swears, this may not sound funny lucy uses a computer device to talk and it sounds so funny.
There you have it thats me

Re: Coventry Climax Number 2 pump
These Climax water pumps were, as far as I am aware, nothing to do with Coventry Climax. I think that they were made in Worcester. I have a horizontal plunger type pump with an enclosed crank, which is the first mechanical "thing" I restored. I can still remember the reaction from my mother when I turned up with it on a sack truck which I had borrowed from the tatter from whom I had bought the pump for 5/-. I was about 13 at the time and my dad managed to persuade my mum that I should be allowed to keep it; as an engineer he was keen to encourage me.

Yeah see the thing is the guy i got it of said it was a climax, i did question it, see there are no details on the pump other than the word climax, i think its one of those things that someone will pop up out of the blue one day, and know everything about it

Climax pumps
Roadster is correct in stating that Climax pumps are nothing to do with the famous fire pump company, they were in fact built by Thomas & Co. of Worcester. Nothing much is known about the company and pump records do not exist so dating is difficult. The shallow well types were typically manufactured during the 1920's and 1930's, came in sizes 1 to 5 and were often made for other companies but they also made deep well and windmill pumps which are very rarely seen on the rally ground. The most common types are the sizes 1 and 2 shallow well pumps which are the most manageable and their open crank operation is the most satisfying to watch, above this and they are just too heavy to move!
If anyone has any interesting history connected with this company I would be pleased to hear about it.
