Newbie JAP 2S spark.
Hi, I have just become the new owner of a JAP 2S, the spark is very poor. The plug is a Champion J6, what is a modern equivalent? I'm starting with the plug, any tips on flywheel removal and condenser, coil and points availability if It needs further surgery would be Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance Newbie.

Re: Newbie JAP 2S spark.
Hi and welcome to the forum.
Best to start a new thread in New Projects/Restorations but my first suggestion is to disconnect HT lead from the plug and hold the connector near the head and crank it over again. If the spark id still poor then maybe it's not the plug at fault. (Presume you have given it a good clean and gapped correctly)
Champion J6 plugs are available.

I've never had a 2S so can't confirm if that's the right plug. No doubt someone will be along shortly with more info.
For other spares try

Good luck.
PS I have a manual which may be of use. PM me if you would like a copy.

Re: Newbie JAP 2S spark.
Hello and wellcome. The original spark plug was a klg f50 and i think the ngk eqivalant is a b5hs. Working on one at the moment. I found and origenal at an aoto jumble the other day. Still in klg tin with old price tag of 5 shillings on it. I had to give him 30 euro. Only payed 20 stirling for the engine🤪

Result, new plug, cleaned n gapped points at a "tight" 20 thou and it runs. Got to stop fuel leaks now. Keeps me out of trouble.
