Lister D bearing lubrication Empty Lister D bearing lubrication

Post by Endckr111 Sat Apr 08 2023, 08:34

Hi,
Can someone kindly explain how the two Lister D crankshaft bearings are lubricated? I can see oil can get between the counter weight and bearing housing to oil one bearing, but how does it travel to oil the flywheel side bearing?
I noticed in the restoration book, it states no grease is required for either bearing on reassembly, which I intend to follow, but would be interested in previous question
Many thanks

The bearings are lubricated by the dipper splashing the oil about lubricating everything through drillings in the con rod and onto the main bearings via the crank shaft and running through the bearing housing to the front bearing.

Yes I understand that, but if it gets past the connecting rod side bearing it drains along bearing housing, and out at cutout in bearing housing, and back to sump, completely missing out on front bearing

I've a cut away drawing in one of my Lister D manuals and it shows the lubrication flow lines, I have never had to change bearings but when I've had a D apart there is oil in the cartridge, I have faith in the manufacturer that they have got it right so don't worry about it.
