Hi, my name is Gert and I am addicted to old engines.
I am not sure why I have not joined this forum before.
I have started collecting in 2016 and currently have only 14 engines (8 running). I only collect engines which are older than me, not running and missing parts, a bonus. I get my satisfaction from searching the web to find information about the engine and how the part should have look like and then re-manufacture it myself. Each running engine have one or more parts with my name on it ;-)
Many engine purists do not agree with me because the engine is not original anymore. My argument is - I either have a running engine or a piece of rusted junk in the corner of my garage. If I am able to find the original I will add it. I am yet to find a person pointing to a part and say "That is not original".

Hi Gert and a very warm welcome to the forum.
I agree with your sentiments entirely - I just wish I had the machinist skills to make new parts. Sad

Please post a few pictures of your collection in Pride And Joy when you are able.

Agreed, old dog new tricks etc. But that would detract from wood turning, cabinet making, fly fishing, gardening, walking and the blues band. And, of course,  tinkering with dirty old engines. Very Happy

Never been good working with wood, it always catches fire when I try and weld it.
