Hi
Can any body give me the size of the Gib key for my Bamford EG1 I stripped it down some years ago now cant find the keys.
I have measured them as maybe 3/8 x 3/8 is that correct?

Probably, whatever you measured it to it will need filing to fit.

Are you saying 3/8 x 3/8 is not correct, if so they will have to be 3/8 x 5/16 I assume.

No, what I am saying is if it measures 3/8 x3/8 then it probably is correct but keys are a file to fit job anyway. It has to be fitted, not just hammered tight and left.

Seen too many of them recently, one hammered into a Wolseley WD so hard it split the flywheel Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Or filed too much, I have one that has been files too narrow which means the flywheel rocks on it on each power pulse. I saw the end result on one at work recently, the key wore so much it eventually rolled and drive between a motor and gearbox was lost, cost us nearly an hour's downtime.
