Hi Adam,
Looks like a BSA to me. The crimson colour on the cowl where a transfer once was is a bit of a give away

i also would say BSA 420cc as for the colour of cowl paint behind missing id plate is so much the unmistakable bsa colour, and the block somwere will have a light shade of grey on it lurking in the corners
