Wolseley project

Abes what a great looking trolley and the wheel colour looks spot on, a match for the colour of the wood. Looking forward to seeing the finished item with the WD sat on top.

Cheers mate, axels all drilled, painted and fitted to the woodwork so hopefully engine will be back on tomorrow so will put some pics up then

trolley is looking very nice abes
and no fire black to be seen so far
like you say the wheels are looking well as they are, but maybe in the end they may not look as good as we were thinking, like the amanco trolley wheels
they were the best painted bit on it when i bought it, but had to have a coat in the end as they just wernt cutting the mustard as a few others commented too

Well had a busy day today, managed to get the engine on to the new trolley and started to put together my next display made up of a 1924 Portass lathe and a Union Pillar drill still quite a bit left to do on this but base unit nearly completed just need to weld on some diagnal metal supports and drill securing holes for the lathe and drill then need to start building the drive shaft supports, pics of progress so far below

Abes , your doing a cracking job on that trolley, The WD is a good sound engine and it will be ansum when finished , keep us posted on the progress...good work so far

The WD looks very smart sat on that trolley, great job Abes. Looking forward to your porable machine shop build I've not seen anything like that before on the rally field so should get lots of interest.

1 question how are you going to move the lathe and drill ???

Easy mate its liftable ie the line shaft and drill will be removable and the table and lathe i can lift on my own but am considering putting a couple of removable small wheels on one end to make it even easier

Had a bit of free time this afternoon so thought id make a start on the line shaft brackets, want to put some sort of support half way up between the uprights not sure if to use steel bar of some sort or go for wood to match the top what do you think, also managed to get all the holes drilled and leg supports welded and fitted and painted so thats a couple of more jobs out the way

I think wood would look good Abes but without seeing it in the flesh I can't say 100%

Like the set up but I'd be tempted to put it all on an angle iron frame with 4 small wheels. Saves the back and the hassle of having to unbolt it all. Also protect those cast sewing machine stand ends. A bit more height will also help your back if you plan to do some turning or drilling demos. Of course you may have no issues in that department yet but life catches up with you in the end.
