Villiers midget modification
Hello all.
I have decided to dip my toe back into the stationary engine game, after a gap of a few years, and bought myself a Viliers midget.
I've given it the once over and got it running nicely, and now I would like it to do something, like driving a dynamo or generator.
So my question is this, becuase of the way that the framework is configured, I'm not able to run a belt off the flywheel, so I'm looking at putting somthing on the tapered shaft at the drive side.
Does anybody know of a suitable flywheel that might fit on the drive shaft, or, if I'm barking up the wrong tree with this approach, does anybody have any ideas what else I could use to drive said dynamo or generator?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.
Paul.

Re: Villiers midget modification
Not tried it myself - sold the only Villiers with tapered shaft engine that I had.
Others will correct me if I'm talking out of my fundamental orifice but maybe you should look at a tapered v pulley or tapered bush....

The brass flywheel of the mk 20/25 Villiers would be ok once you unbolt the alloy cooling fan.

Re: Villiers midget modification
Thanks for the help, it's much appreaciated, I was thinking flywheel in the first place as I did'nt know what else to use, but now I've seen the V pully on Woodsman's link I rather think that that's the way forward.
Whilst I'm here, does anyone know the RPM range of the Villiers midget engine, as it might be useful to know what size pully to order.
Thanks again.

Re: Villiers midget modification
I have an instruction book and parts list for the MK2 and 3 midget in pdf form, PM me your email if you would like a copy. It doesn't give the speed range but I will have a look in my Villiers book later to see if it has the information.

The only info I can find is the power output of the MK2 and 3 engine is 0.625 BHP at 2500 RPM.
