Conversion to propane ? Empty Conversion to propane ?

I would like to convert an old 2.2 hp ( 4 stroke ) generator I use for power tools to propane only as cheaply as possible, anyone have any knowledge of doing this ?

As far as I know so far this will need an on demand regulator and a gas line fitted in place of the carbs main jet.

I did it in college for a little project, just made an adapter to hold the pipe in the intake... Did the job for.what we were doing.

What engine are we talking? I believe some Villiers powered generators were supplied to the GPO running on propane.

They did, have manual somewhere, but not 2.2 hp, they were much smaller.

Listers supplied a kit to convert D Types to gas and I believe Wolseley did similar for their WD's? A demand valve and regulator were the neccessary items, although the demand valve could be possibly bypassed I suppose if the engine wasn't left unattended as the valve simply stopped the gas flow if the engine should stop for any reason.

Pete.

I have the parts to convert one of my D's, the demand valve needed a new diaphram so I contacted a material manufacturer and bought some material to remake it.
