Taper lock pulley
Hi Guys,
I am looking for an 8" v belt pulley to fit a 5/8" shaft without a key way( for my Millers Falls power saw). One supplier could supply this size but with a taper lock bush,I have never used these before.
My question is - would this grip the drive shaft tight enough to drive my power saw or would it tend to spin on the shaft?
Any help or advice would be appreciated.Thanks.
Kev.

Hi Locknut,
I have had them on electric motors and once they were tightened up they did not shift just make sure that everything is clean and no burrs.
Regards,
Chiefy.

Never used them myself but I thought they still used a key. I'll defer to Chiefy's greater knowledge.

Re: Taper lock pulley
Thanks for the replies.
Paul, like you I thought that that they only worked with a key - hence my question - and indeed the pictures that I have seen all show keyways.
Chiefy - its good to know that they will just tighten up on the shaft alright - I had visions of getting it all set up and after a short period of time the pulley starting to slip on the shaft.
All the best,
Kev.

Hi Chiefy,
Thanks for the reassurance - I will go ahead with that in the New Year - dont want anything getting lost in the Christmas post!
I know exactly what you mean about safe places!
All the best,
Kev.
