New member from Essex
Hi all, I'm near Great Dunmow in Essex and have just acquired a Petter A1 engine. Haven't had a chance to see if it will run yet. I love all old machinery and have several old cars, two buses and an early '60s moped to keep me occupied - they all need work!

Thanks for the welcome Tony, I'm looking forward to having a play with the Petter one day soon, as a bit of light relief from some of the other jobs on the go!

Thanks - if its any help I paid around a hundred quid for mine but that was "mates rates". The chap I bought it from has quite a few in various states and although he is from Gloucestershire he travels to Essex quite often, so if you are interested then perhaps I could put you in contact?

Good morning Paul
I just tried to pm you but apparently as a new member, I'm not allowed to contact other members for the first seven days! So I will drop you a line next week regarding the manual. Thank you very much for the offer.

Hi Nigel, and welcome to the forum I have had some great advise over the last couple of years on here, so if you need anything just ask, Regards Richard
PS, you say you paid around a hundred quid for a Petter A1 not being funny but has it been restored and does it run ?, as it seems a lot of money you have paid
its hard to get £ 80.00 for a fully restored one these days.

Seems in tip-top cosmetic condition and allegedly runs without problems... didn't seem a lot of money to me for it to be honest. Though I'll admit I wasn't especially looking, I saw it and fancied it and the guy said "its yours for around a ton" so now its mine lol I probably should have done my homework first but £20 over is neither here nor there really, is it?

Nigel,
The important thing is that You're happy with what you paid and what you got - sounds like you got a reasonable deal.
I'm hoping to get in around the £80 - £100 mark so might take awhile till the right thing comes up.

From the previous post it seems like you should be able to easily find something good for that money. I don't begrudge spending £100 on a big boys toy - its not much more than full tank of fuel and when a cambelt change on my Alfa daily driver is £400+, seems like a cheap bit of joy in comparison The chap I bought mine from has quite a few in stock.
