need identification of make
I have found a four stroke air cooled motor which has no name or identification. it has a stroke of 75mm and a bore of 65mm.
it is all aluminuim with a cast iron head . It has a cross flow head. it appears to be British as all nuts and bolts are imperial. It has
a Bing Carb and a Wico magneto within the flywheel. it has a kickstart. Can any one help? The only numbers found are
248 INd 723 and within a small circle BES 217.

Re: need identification of make
Try uploading your pictures to something like PhotoBucket and adding a link. Details of how to do this in a number of other threads.

Re: need identification of make
Hi Brian, I have sent your info and pics to a chap who is quite a leading authority on aircooled engines and has a large collection, and he is struggling to id it! Are you UK based and if so how did you come by the engine, any extra info may help. Also is that the original carb that came with it?

Re: need identification of make
I am in Durban South Africa. It is the original carb. I found this engine at a scrap dealer. The seller only able to say that it was used on a farm. On the cowling where a transfer used to be, the only letters which were in large print, is OO, obviously part of the make I am able to read.
On the cast iron Barrel.there is letters MO or WO which are indistinct. On the aluminium crankcase are the following: 248 IND 723 and within a small circle BES 217

Ah ha, ok Brian. It may be a South African make, I will get back to my 'adviser' and give him that extra info. Watch this space!

Re: need identification of make
Well Brian, we have drawn a blank I am afraid as even the chap who is a leading light on aircooled engine's can find no information! Do you subscribe to Stationary Engine Magazine, if so then a request in there may bring some information as there are readers in various parts of the world who may have the answer. If you don't have the magazine then I could do it on your behalf, sorry that we were unable to help but it is certainly an interesting engine.
