Lister Generator Empty Lister Generator

Post by Lisa D Sun Mar 22 2015, 19:10

Hi Everyone,

My name is Lisa and I am hoping some of you can help me with some questions that I have. We have a generator which has been in my grandad's garden for a very long time and am hoping someone can help us identify what year this machine was built and any further information which could be helpful. We couldn't find much information on the machine but have attached images of the machine and the plaque which is located on the side.

We are also looking to sell this item as it is no longer required, could anyone point us in the right direction such as websites as not really sure where to begin. We live near Brighton in case there are any places nearby we could go to.

Thanks for reading this and we will appreciate any help you can give us  Very Happy

Lisa

Hi Lisa,
The person to contact to date this engine is David Edgington MBE,I believe that he holds the factory records and can probably date the engine and let you know who it was originally supplied to.I will PM his address to you.
All the best,
Kev.

Hi Lisa,
You have a 3hp Lister generating set, Spec 18 dating to  about 1928 to 1930.
These are fairly few and far between so should fetch a pretty good price.
If you sell this I would expect it to raise in excess of £300 and more if you have a control panel (meters/switches) etc to go with it.
The best place to sell, and reach a wide audience would be eBay.
Alternatively you could take it to the engine swap meet (a big sale) at Oakley airfield near Oxford on 18th April ( [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] )

Hi , the serial number on the plate dates it as 1928. At £300 I would be definitely interested in buying it. I have sent you a private message.
