What bits do you need? ebay might be a place for parts but not a lot of "new" stuff about.

Hi, could you tell me if the Argosy pump will work with the pulley turning in either direction and is there any way I can find out the history of the pump, there is a number on a plate on the pump, also I am driving the pump off my Lister D, which size pulley would be best on the engine a 4" or 6" dia.
Thanks, Bernard.

It should pump in either direction Bernard, it just depends if it has an oil dipper on the con-rod as it may not get lubricated enough if driven wrong. Personally I would drive it clockwise if the pulley is on the right, anti-clock if it is on the left of the pump which is how the similar Lister Domestic pump is driven. I would go for the smaller pulley myself, can't help with the history though.
Pete.

Re: Argosy pump.
Hello Bernard - have you had any luck in finding spares? I have a feeling that Lister domestic spares fit... I have just picked up an old Argosy myself - not much wrong - but the main piston seems as if its crumbled.... so I started looking towards Lister pump spares on the stationaryenginespares.com web pages and comparing technical sizes seems to show that Argosy who produced these in the 1930's were bright enough to copy dimensions of another popular pump to ease spares - good for the user - bad for the manufacturer as you can then go for the cheapest.....
There is a link to a small blog on these pumps at http://www.zen15400.zen.co.uk/engines/argosy.htm
At the bottom there is a link to the electronic versions of the old paper manuals... for a twin and single - sadly i cant identify what type mine is but I suspect a later version than the ones in the manual.... Pah!

Depends on the parts you are looking for. Leather cup washers will be available from many sources, but I would be very surprised if mechanical parts were interchangeable. Not looked into it as the pump I have was & still is in good condition.
