It does look good, looks better on here than it did on the phone as the screen is bigger.

Bit of both, first start and I had well oiled the bore and rings and guessed the setting for the carb, it settled but couldn't run it for long as no cooling yet, I had just filled the water jacket.

Now to the cooling tank dilemma.
The first picture shows it with its original 45 gallon tank The second is a 12 gallon tank.
I would like to keep the original but it makes it all very tall for transporting and it won't go in the garage when its on the trailer. Also holds far too much water for use at shows.

Plan so far is to put the smaller tank inside the bigger one and make the tank easily detachable. Any other suggestions welcome.

Just had a thought! 
Does the tank have to be that high, if I make a new stand so that there is just a gentle slope on the top pipe and not 45 degrees as it is a the moment, will it still thermo-syphon?

Tony, Yes it will, so long as the upper pipe runs up hill to the tank it will pull the cold water in from lower down. Obviously the more angle you can have the better it will syphon... and if it means you keeping the original tank then that's great. Still fit your smaller tank inside though as it will hardly get warm with all that water, not to mention the hassle of filling and draining each time. You could probably get away with as little as 6 gallons of water too unless you plan to work the engine.

as long as the hot top pipe is as high in the water as you can and the bottom of tank can be a the same level as the fitting in engine
cold water is hevier than hot water so as long as its uphill for the hot water the system will pump its self around mate
