Magneto sprocket removal.
Hi all,
Any tips for removing the Magneto drive sprocket from the crank shaft of a Lister Junior?
Is it a straight key or a taper? Is it just a case of brute force with a puller or are there any subtler ways?

Re: Magneto sprocket removal.
its on a taper and normally not too tight . sometimes it been known just to unwind nut a few turns and surport the gear and a sharp tap on the nut shocks it off . notice a tap not a clout

Crank shaft Matt.
This is held on with a parallel key and if my memory serves me right it is also the gear for the camshaft on the other end, it should just pull off with gentle use of a puller. Clean the shaft up well, lube it up and bingo, off it comes.

Thanks Villiers,
yes, you memory is correct, there is a cam gear on the back.
I pulled it a few mm, then it went tight, so I stopped cause I didn't want to wind it too tight against a taper key.
As you say it's a straight key, I'll clean the keyway a bit more, give it a soak and try again.
