1897 Benz of Mannheim
I thought I'd show you my 4hp 1897 Benz engine that I will try to finish restoring this year. I found this engine in a very sorry state in Holland. I've spent many hundreds of hours just to get it to this state!!!

Here are a couple more pics of some of the pieces needed. The red pattern is from the mag mounting that I had cast, this is only one pattern from about 15 made so far. The mag was VERY hard to find even in mainland europe, I found one in Holland in the end, this is the first mag ever produced starting in 1887. The new gear is hollow like the original and filled with the original river bed sand?? from the original.
