Wico Ek Magneto rebuild

Hello all


I have found out i need to replace both coils in my wico EK magneto.

What i would like to no is if i import them does anyone no the fees i would get slapped with.

Also has anyone ever stripped one of these magnetos down and replaced the coils. is it diificult to rebuild.

Hi Lewis, i was speaking to a chap the weekend he had his ek rebuilt last week new coils condensor etc £150.00, it might be worth you giving vintage magnetos a call and asking them about yours, his was done within a week,

yes Lewis i have,they came from an eBay seller called frappi.
they were $90 if i remember correctly..he sells the whole kit for the EK mags...
check it out...but beware you will have to pay import tax,and that can be costly
if i was you i would contact martin and let them do it..
it will be cheaper and quicker..but its up to you Lewis..

Hi Lewis, when i mentioned that i spoke to someone that had his done last week that was rebuilt by martin and charged £150.00 like i said, good luck like mike says once its done its done,

That's very true isn't it. Shame my mum isn't making magneto coils anymore where she worked years ago. Proberly could rewind them if we had the machines and tools.

Lewis, same here my uncle used to have a a motor rewing company they used to rewind allsorts of things im sure he could have done mags as well, if only we knew then what we knew now,
