got another russian cccp genny..
got this genny off a bloke the other day.
got it home and during today i got it running in a short time.
basically the same as my other twin cylinder genny but this one hasnt got the cold starting device for -20 degree starting..
inside the cooling bit as can be seen in very clean alloy condition with no corrosion or dirt..
Proper russian(cccp) spark plugs with sheilded leads and connections all intact. Also it came with a load of spares like brand new plugs and mag points which are impossible to find anywhere(I have looked already)
the killer wire ends with wing nuts as can be seen the wing nuts are very close together and what happened in use they come loose and the operator would tighten them up by hand without switching off the power and will get a shock.
powered up all ok as well.needs the 40volt bit looking at as it dont charge properly which is proberbly the glass torpedo fuse has blown.which are again imposible to find in the uk they are 2 inch long with glass tube and 40amp..i found 10 amp fuses but never 40 amp.so i use fuse wire solderd to the ends of the fuse.
As can be seen this one is only a 10 amp nominal power.
wiring plate is rivited inside the end panel still.
and inside the end plate showing the wiring and resisitors for the dummy load when its not powering the radio sets..
and tucked away inside shoved behind a resisitor i found the build sheet/test sheet which is dated 1989 and stamped with location.(I will scan this later tonight and add it to the pics)
I also got the starting handle and the kick start even works..
short video of its first run even the inside of the exhaust had no soot in it even the plugs were clean.engine oil was like new but i had drained it and refilled before starting it

Re: got another russian cccp genny..
A very nice genny that doesn't look to have seen a lot of work. Your getting to be the expert on all these Russian gennys.

PS I had a look at some of your other videos and the one that caught my attention was the new lights on the a14 (i think it is) well as you set of around the roundabout there's a tranny with a 4 wheel trailer, is it legal do you know?

It's a nice looking trailer, and being on the main route to/from the port I bet Vosa get few drivers from overseas with driving hours being over the top.

Re: got another russian cccp genny..
not a roro ferry in felixstowe so not as many oversea lorrys its usually uk registered lorrys being overweight or defects they are catching...
Load tested the genny today and it runs really well even on overload..the trips on these go with a big clang and only way at home to do this is load it up with portable heaters and as many floodlights as i can find... 11 500watt spotlights and 2 radiator type heaters which are 2kw each and 1 3kw heater and it went clang with 10 spotlights and the heaters on it was ok and ran for a hour like that with no overheating or fuel leaks..
just need to sort a trolley or fit somewheels to the frame to make it easier to move as the old wheels have collapsed so its currently being moved about by forklift truck

Re: got another russian cccp genny..
Glad to hear it's all up and running and all healthy, it's got a high output with everything you've been running, you could just about run a full house of it.
