Norman mk2 T300
Good morning all, just picked up a Norman T300 yesterday, very pleased with it, runs well, but needs a few bits, I.e Magneto cover, and I do believe it’s a marine version, it seems to have no governor, and just a rod from the carb butterfly ( the seller said he did get some information about the engine that said it was a Marine version)
Engine number is TA 3461
Looking forward to getting involved with this engine.

Re: Norman mk2 T300
Having owned a Norman boat in the past I was curious about whether this was the same company. It wasn't, but my Googling turned up this archived forum post with some interesting stuff in it, including a reference to some Stationary Engine magazine articles:

Norman T300 TA3461 was sold to Buss Brothers on 10th June 1948. I think Buss Brothers had a boat business at Old Windsor on the Thames. You are correct, it is a marine engine and was fitted with a BTH magneto which I see it retains. Don't dismantle the crankcase halves unless you actually have to.
The magneto cover can be obtained from here:

Just check with them that it will fit a type MC1 mageto before ordering.

Thanks Bluecat, I was nervous about splitting the crankcase, tbh I’ve only stripped it so I can clean and paint it, it’s a wonderful engine, I hope to get another soon, thanks also for the info about the Mag…
