Villiers V for Victory engine! Ex RAF
Hi all,
Just picked up a WW2 Air Ministry villiers engine, that is ex RAF and was attached to a convertor board that would have the health and safty fainting!
There is a desire to get it going again, i like a challange!, so far i have compression! but no spark!
Once i have worked out how to upload some photos i will let you lot have a look!

Hi Steve and a warm welcome to the forum.
Tutorial here https://ukengineforum.forumotion.com/t9665-how-to-upload-images.
Did a V engine some time ago: https://ukengineforum.forumotion.com/t8942-villiers-the-v-engine
Let me know if you need a manual. Good luck.

I agree with mattblack, I am one of those loonies as he terms it, hence my latest purchase.

IIRC Original park plug was Lodge CB.3 No doubt someone else can confirm.
Try Green Sparkplug Co for equivalent.

Looks like a new HT lead is required! Have a look for for Hyperlon (I think) copper stranded and old school brass connector
If you go for a modern style plug cap then make sure there is no resistor.
The bakelite screw-in sleeve in the backplate may well be seized - plenty of Plusgas / GT87 and patience required!
Take it steady and keep posting.

They also have spade terminals.

Re: Villiers V for Victory engine! Ex RAF
First port of call should be the coil.
HT side should have a resistance of 4.5 K - there is every chance it will be open circuit!! If not, you are in luck.
LT side should be very low ohms - it will probably show as short circuit on a digital multimeter.
Make sure you slip a piece of card between the points so that the coil isn't earthed when testing.
