Beresford pump
I collected this yesterday along with a Villiers MK7 engine (I think!) and other bits and pieces, TBH it was only the pump I was really after to drive with my MK20 but the price was fair and the engine seems all there apart from the air filter and is supposed to be a runner.
I don't know what's going on with the wooden wedges, I'm guessing the housing is damaged. All will be revealed when I get round to stripping it down.

Re: Beresford pump
'Tis the season...
...to play with rusty old tat! I stripped the pump down today, with the aid of a handbook/parts list off ebay. However, there were a couple of surprises.
Impeller came off with the aid of a couple of 3/16" Whitworth bolts.
What I assumed was damage to the housing is actually a cut out, possibly to drain water out that gets passed the shaft?
My pump seems to be a bit different to the one in the handbook, it lacks the seal assembly shown as No. 21, and there is no roll pin (or hole for one) in the shaft:
There seems to be some sort of (worn) bush in the housing instead.
Another difference is the handbook states the shaft and bearings can be driven out either way, but one end of the housing is 'blind' on my pump with just a small hole for the shaft.
Anyway, it will keep me entertained for a while. I have decided to use the MK7 to drive it as it is better matched size wise and I probably wouldn't do anything with it otherwise.

Re: Beresford pump
I had a week off work so I did some more work on the pump, cleaning and painting mostly...
The light blue hammered paint came off with paint stripper, I thought that any of the original(?) blue that survived the stripper and the whizzy wheel wasn't going anywhere...
The paint is not as 'bluey-green' as it appears, it's this 'Forest Green' bargain shop brand that I haven't used before but thought I would try as Wilco is no more. (note how different the cap appears in the photo - the camera DOES lie...

Re: Beresford pump
Glad to someone's getting stuck in.
I've been laid low by some sort of flu since before Christmas. Still waking up with chest full of snot every morning but seems to be going slowly. Hopefully will be back in the shed soon.

Re: Beresford pump
Got the pump back together, the only real issue was the woodruff key for the impeller was somewhat past it's best and I didn't have a new key the right size. I did have some shims I could cut up though:
I also made a couple of seals for the suction/delivery pipe flanges, believe it or not these are better than the ones that were fitted...
Next up is to get the MK7 running, knock up a temporary base and see if it actually works...
