Hello all,

I've been into stationary engines for a while now, I cut my teeth on the obligatory Lister D - currently have two, restored both but only have the one running engine now (more information on that to come...).

I recently managed to bring a friend into the void, he was offered a rather rough Lister D for the price of a pint and a packet of fags. Along with the D he was given a JAP 2a generating set which I have acquired at the cost of a Lister carb and exhaust (hence now only having one running D).

The JAP is my next restoration project, it's a bit of a dog but it's mostly complete. The exhaust "manifold" looks to be cast into the cylinder barrel, something I haven't seen on pictures of other 2a engines. Unfortunately this casting has been broken off, I intend to post pictures soon, with the lack of protection from the elements rust has set in around the exhaust valve.

Some silly me (me) managed to snap the valve getting it out and so is my main motivation for joining this forum, hopefully the combined knowledge of the community will be able to offer me some advice on getting around this most minor of inconveniences haha!

I'll start a restoration thread once I get seriously involved with the JAP, in the meantime I hope to get to know you all and will gawp in adoration at your own engines and projects Smile

Cheers, David.
