Hi, I'm Tony, born in Ramsgate in Kent, lived in the Medway towns until 1999, when I moved to Ullapool in the NW Highlands. Been here 24 years now and never regretted the move. I'm a fan of small classic british motorcycles (two in the Shed, one in the living room, as it should be!) but have recently dived into stationary engines and am currently rebuilding a Ruston & Hornsby PT.

Hello and welcome! welcome sign

I'm sure you'll soon have a stationary engine (or 2) in the living room...

Hi Tony and a very warm welcome to the forum. Been to Ullapool several times as a kid and loved it - good fishing!
Best of luck with your project. I look forward to following progress.

Thanks, it was a great place to land. Postal charges can be daft though. We are most definitely MAINLAND! 🙂
Currently on the lookout for a replacement exhaust valve. I thought silencers were hard enough to come by...

Welcome Tony, my wife is from Lochinver and I know the area well having been visiting for 20 years now. Usually up that way 2 - 3 times a year to see the inlaws. Its a great area and I saw it before it got overly busy due to the NC500 which has its good and bad points. The inlaws stay on the single track road to Clachtoll and it is horrendous in the holiday season with traffic and drivers who don't know how to use the passing spaces. Not seen any engines in the area in my 20 years coming up but there are quite a lot of old tractors and vehicles lying abandoned. Good luck with your restoration !

Hi Tony, nice to see another member join,

Fowlerfan, my father was also from Lochinver, my Grandparents then Aunty had the postoffice, I too have spent many enjoyable days up there, unfortunately not been so often these last few years.

That looks like a nice motorbike. Any chance of a few pics in The Shed?

The"indoor" Bike is a homebuilt project I made from an abandoned mountain bike and a 1950s Villiers lawnmower engine. The green machine is a 1954 Francis-Barnett Falcon and the black machine is a 1951 Velocette LE.Hi there from Scotland Img_2011

I love the Villiers engined mountain bike! I had the idea of doing one, had a 'midget' engine kicking around for years but it never happened and I sold the engine.

Yes. it's a mk2 Midget that I picked up off ebay. Just needed a new coil and it starts first pull. Haven't really tried it out fully as it's not a road registered machine but it cycles about fine, if a little heavy. 🙂

Love the 'roll-your-own' Villiers. Thumbs Up

Brilliant! That's what I call upcycling (pun intended)
