Hi all,
My name's Mike. I recently found 2 old engines in the corner of one of my sheds so I thought I'd have a crack at restoring them, not done anything like this before.
I have a Crossley PH 1030 and a Lister D. I've started with the Lister as I thought it would be an easy first project.
Over the past couple of weekends, I've stripped it down, cleaned, and painted everything.
The Listers serial is 89633, if anyone could tell me anything about it I'd be very interested.
I just need to put it all back together now.
I have lots of photos but haven't quite figured out how to upload them yet

Good morning welcome, June 1929, Spec 11 a nice early engine, does it have the original ML Horse shoe magneto and does it have a spoked flywheel or a solid one.
Tilt, now wearing my glasses and can see solid flywheel.

Rs1 magneto I believe, and a solid flywheel.
I wonder if anyone knows about the petrol tank, I don't have a photo of it now but the filler is in the centre. I've replaced it with a new tank (cap on the right) because the original had 2 holes where the felt pads were. Other than the cap placement it's identical to the new tank, I've looked at many photos and the only pictures of tanks with caps in the middle are a different shape and lower down the engine.

The tank position should be half way down, slightly smaller, if yours is at the top you have a later spec cylinder head, on the head there will be a casting no D9 I think yours will be a later head.

It appears I may have a bit of a Frankenlister then.
It has the older cone shaped valve guides (which I've had to replace) I replaced these with the square type, I don't think this will make a difference. I had real trouble getting the exhaust valve out so I ordered a new one knowing I wouldn't be able to get it out in one piece. When it did come out I discovered the inlet and exhaust valves had been switched the wrong way around, so now I have 2 exhaust valves. 🤬
